Kicking it off…

Hello!

Well, looks as if it’s time for the first post! Yippie! Maybe I should start by answering a question that may be burning on everyone’s lips, “why are you starting a blog?”.

Obviously, we’re not really suffering from a shortage of blog content on the Internet, so there’s maybe no need for me to come to a superhero-esque rescue and pump out some posts to feed your newsreader. In fact, few things have ever been hyped as much as the whole Web 2.0-Blog-whatever conglomerate. Let’s face it, there are millions (or even billions?) of blogs out there, with the vast majority probably not worth a daily read: Rarely ever are we interested in the latest ramblings of a random teenager delving into the harsh realms of puberty and the like. There are quite some blogs that are worth reading, but they are often backed up by either a corporation employing a multitude of bloggers or people that consider themselves full-time bloggers (which basically means being glued to the newsreader all day and hip-shooting out comments about worthwhile items as soon as they become available). Or it could be celebrity blog: Interesting or not, people will read it, at least the fans.

Unfortunately, I’m nothing of the above. Hence, I must be driven by the arrogant idea of having to offer something that makes it worthwhile for at least a small group of people to read my blog. Apparently, I am that arrogant. In fact, I read a lot of newsfeeds. I also read everything else I can get my hands on. I’m interested in a lot of things. I have a technical background (well, see here). I think about and reflect upon the stuff I see and do. I like to write. Doesn’t it sound as if I had good prerequisites to start blogging then?

Anyways, I think it’ll be a lot of fun, at least for me, so I’m kicking it off today! Of course, as always, I’m already playing with the idea of creating a new design for the blog, which I’ll eventually do.

So, have fun and stay tuned for my first “real” post about, uh, you know, stuff that matters…

About

Hi, how are you? My name is Georg Kaindl, and I'm a twenty-something from Vienna, Austria. During the day, I'm a CS student at the Vienna University of Technology, but at night, I turn into an independent software developer for the Macintosh platform, social nerd, lazy entrepreneur and intuitive researcher.

I like to write about everything that matters to considerate technology enthusiasts, but humbly retain the right to go off-topic from time to time.

Contact

You can reach me by email if you have something to say that's not related to a blog post or that you don't want to have publicly available as a comment to a post.

However, you'll have to prove that you are human! Even though I personally like robots very much, I'm less of fan of SPAM. It's just a simple riddle to solve, but a SPAM bot won't cut it!

To get my email address, take the word before the .com in my domain name first (Hint: The word you are looking for starts with a "g" and ends with an "l"). Next, simply attach @mac.com to this word.

Boom, there's my email address. Simple, isn't it?
