Kicking it off…
![]()
Well, looks as if it’s time for the first post! Yippie! Maybe I should start by answering a question that may be burning on everyone’s lips, “why are you starting a blog?”.
Obviously, we’re not really suffering from a shortage of blog content on the Internet, so there’s maybe no need for me to come to a superhero-esque rescue and pump out some posts to feed your newsreader. In fact, few things have ever been hyped as much as the whole Web 2.0-Blog-whatever conglomerate. Let’s face it, there are millions (or even billions?) of blogs out there, with the vast majority probably not worth a daily read: Rarely ever are we interested in the latest ramblings of a random teenager delving into the harsh realms of puberty and the like. There are quite some blogs that are worth reading, but they are often backed up by either a corporation employing a multitude of bloggers or people that consider themselves full-time bloggers (which basically means being glued to the newsreader all day and hip-shooting out comments about worthwhile items as soon as they become available). Or it could be celebrity blog: Interesting or not, people will read it, at least the fans.
Unfortunately, I’m nothing of the above. Hence, I must be driven by the arrogant idea of having to offer something that makes it worthwhile for at least a small group of people to read my blog. Apparently, I am that arrogant. In fact, I read a lot of newsfeeds. I also read everything else I can get my hands on. I’m interested in a lot of things. I have a technical background (well, see here). I think about and reflect upon the stuff I see and do. I like to write. Doesn’t it sound as if I had good prerequisites to start blogging then?
Anyways, I think it’ll be a lot of fun, at least for me, so I’m kicking it off today! Of course, as always, I’m already playing with the idea of creating a new design for the blog, which I’ll eventually do.
So, have fun and stay tuned for my first “real” post about, uh, you know, stuff that matters…
